women and political power

Women throughout time helped and worked towards justice for all citizens. They fought for the rights of others and whatever they felt would make this country better. Towards 1848 women were becoming aware of how little power and rights they had. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott were the first two women to begin the women’s suffrage movement. The women’s suffrage demanded greater rights for women and the right to vote. Finally in 1920 they got their right to vote, but that was not all that needed to be changed. Later in the mid-1900s women started to see that things were still unequal, there was unequal status and pay for equal work. Although the Equal Rights Amendment was well supported if failed to be ratified for the constitution. Even though the ERA failed many women have hold strong positions not only politically but socially and economically too. In the 107th congress about 60 women served in the house. Also about 13 served in the senate, this shows the big improvement over time.

  1. Good job on explained how women rose up and fighted for their rights. It could have been a bit longer or include some pictures, but the information is good.

  2. Overall, you get the point accross. All the details about increasing women's rights and the struggle that ensued is clear and well defined by dates and events. On a more structural note, you could have separated certain segments into paragraphs, and there are several grammatical errors. Also, you should re-read your work, because some words had one letter switched, such as "if" for "it" I believe, and "hold" for "held".

  3. Good in essential summary, but I think you can make it flow a bit better. You have done a great job explaining the slow climb of equalness for women.

  5. Great concise summary. I like how you showed the progression of the rights over time. Maybe you could have added a sentence to conclude the piece as a whole. Good job.

  7. Good in essential summary, and you covered all the essential points. However, the flow is a bit choppy. I would suggest you to vary your sentence length and try to use some transitions. Some words, like an above poster said, have switched letters.

  8. Very concise summary. Was very informative yet not time consuming. I agree it could have been longer and had more flow, but it got the point across.

  9. You got the point across and conveyed the information okay, however check "...that things were still unequal, there was unequal status..." Perhaps a semicolon instead of a comma, or a new sentence would be more grammatically correct.

  10. A good summary, that was to the point. But seemed a little textbooky, I know these are meant to inform, but they are blogs too.

  11. I think you did a very good job describing what was going on at that time, but I think if you had added more detail on the background of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott would give more length and interesting facts to your paragraph.

  15. A good summary of womens advancement in their role of society over time. However, I believe the last sentence could be phrased better. You appear to be melding two thoughts into one sentence. Overall, nice job.
